Teaching from a Psychotherapy Perspective
How can we as teachers provide the best possible learning environment, better connect to the humans we teach, and also feel most fulfilled as individuals? The initial section of this document holds ideas of my own, and the rest holds re-framed work mostly inspired by the great Irvan Yalom, a world renowned Psychotherapist, Novelist and Teacher, amongst other things.
The goal of this document is to share the ideas presented in the book “A Gift of Therapy” and reframe them into the realm of teaching. As discussed below, the roles of teacher, trainer and therapist can be somewhat muddled, so it’s important to see these as malleable to each individual and situation. We can see each section below as a starting point, each inviting further development.
